August 2011 New GRE
Big changes are coming to the GRE in 2011! Here at The Princeton Review Taiwan, we know that there's a lot of uncertainty concerning the new GRE versus the old GRE. Rest assured, we'll make sure you're fully prepared on Test Day regardless of which GRE version you take.
What is changing?
In August 2011, the GRE revised General Test will replace the current version of the GRE here in Taiwan and around the world. The revised test contains new question types and has new functionality that will affect the GRE test-taking experience.
The most drastic changes are in the Verbal section where analogy and antonym questions have been eliminated. Sentence completion questions will have one or two credited responses, and a new question type, text completion, will be introduced. The Math section content has changed little but there are now multiple-answer questions, numeric entry questions, and an on-screen calculator. For more details and a sampling of new questions, please click on the following link: www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/about/content
For GRE test-takers in Taiwan, the split-test administration will be eliminated and replaced with one or two test dates per month. The GRE revised General Test can be taken in one day at a certified ETS computer testing center.
What is the new score?
The GRE revised General Test will be scored from 130-170, in 1-point increments. Your Analytical Writing Assessment scores will still be reported on as 0-6 and is separate from your Verbal/Math scores.
Which version of the GRE should I take?
If you need your GRE scores before November 1, 2011, then you must take the current version of the GRE. Here in Taiwan, the next GRE split-test administrations is June 11, 2011 (AWA must be completed by May 7, 2011).
How do I register?
Go to www.gre.org to register for any version of the GRE test regardless of where you are testing. Registration for the GRE revised General Test begins March 15, 2011.
How can I prepare?
The Princeton Review Taiwan will continue offering preparation for the current version of the GRE up until the June 2011 split-test administration. Our Research and Development team is working on new materials for the GRE revised General Test and we aim to begin preparation courses sometime early 2011, well before the first test date of August 1, 2011.
